I'm attaching some pictures to this post of my apartment for the curious and to whet the appetites of those who would like to come and visit. Actually, today is very foggy. Seems this is a common phenomena here in the winter. The whole area gets covered with this thick fog... hard to drive in, too. We had 4-5 days of constant rain, then yesterday was beautiful and sunny, but today we've got fog. So, here's what my apartment building area looks like in the fog:
So it doesn't seem so depressing here are pictures of flowers I got to make things happier. I will add that the cyclamen (rakefet) was not happy to begin with, I put it inside and all the leaves started getting yellow and the flowers were dying. A friend said to put it outside so it would have more light - I was a bit afraid of this because not liking the cold myself I was wondering about the cyclamen. But it seems to like it out in the cold and fog... See for yourself:
To go back to my main train of thought. Here are some pictures of my apartment. You will see the living room, the kitchen and my bedroom. Dark red features largely, which I like...
You might be wondering about this bout of picture taking... Well, my dad got me a new camera and asked me how come I'm not trying it out. So, since you haven't seen pictures of my apartment and plants yet - you got lucky... I still need to hang pictures. I think I'll start today.
This week I visited two big fairs - one for jewelry in Vicenza http://www.vicenzaoro.org/it/index.php of which I didn't see much because I was busy meeting the organizers of the fair and talking to the Rabbi in the special dining room they have in this fair for those who eat Kosher food (the fair people seemed to be wary of talking to him themselves so I was the go between). Also, as is my way here in Italy, we managed to come exactly on the day that the metal workers in the city were demonstrating so the way to the fair was blocked and we had to walk there through back roads in the pouring rain...
The other big fair takes place here in Milan and is called Macef. It's for household appliances and Bijoux. http://www.macef.it/eng/ There I discoverd that a vase I bought in Ikea while I was in Hungary and broke on the way here, which I really liked was actually designed by a well known Italian crockery company called IVV and it's no wonder I miss my vase (and for those more in the know, please don't shake your head in dismay....).
and now I've got to get ready to go out to a concert of Yefim Bronfman. He'll be playing Prokofiev (Con. no. 2) and then the orchestra will play Shostakovitz (Sym. no. 5) in the nice concert hall here near my house.
and one final comment for this post - the fact that I sound happy when I write doesn't mean that I don't like to get your letters, on the contrary, I promise to answer, so do write....
